I can’t believe Christmas is already over! Time seems like a blur since summer ended. Before the year ends I wanted to include all of the DIY’s and decor from the holiday season in one post to look back on in the years to come.

Since early November I’ve been taking clippings of fresh greenery from the yard. I must have went through a dozen buckets of greens creating wreaths, garlands and adding them to vases and pots. This is something I’ll continue doing every year as it looks and smells so much better than faux. Clippings came from evergreens, spruce, cedar and arborvitae bushes.

DIY’s:

Fresh Wreath: This was my first time making a fresh wreath and I LOVE how it turned out. I learned the technique (yes there’s a technique) of wrapping the continuous floral wire from Garden Answer’s YouTube tutorial here.

Antiqued Bells: Using dollar store bells I started by removing the ribbon and accents. Then spray painted with a brass / gold spray paint. After it dried I applied Rub ‘n Buff in the color Bronze all over. I styled them within a bowl filler of pinecones, dried oranges and cinnamon sticks. Then attached them to the fresh wreath with black satin ribbon. They are holding up great (still) on the wreath on our front door!

Black Nutcracker: Purchased an unfinished wooden nutcracker in the 24″ height from Michaels. Painted on matte black acrylic paint with a sponge brush. I stuck in a small piece of faux greenery from some picks also purchased from Michaels.
