BooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKkk!!!!

Supplies:

  • Hardcover book
    • I purchased one from the Dollar Tree
  • Paper Towels
  • Modge Podge or white glue – Dollar Tree
    • I used both since it’s what I already had on hand. Mix a little water in with the glue in a disposable cup to dilute the glue
  • Sponge brushes – Dollar Tree
  • Ping pong eye balls – Dollar Tree
  • Brown and black acrylic paints
  • glue gun
  • Silver paint, paint pen or sharpie (I used gold, I didn’t have silver)

Step 1: Cover one side with glue and lay torn pieces of paper towels on top of the glue. Paint another layer of glue on top to seal in the paper towels. Let dry over night.

Step 2: Cut ping pong ball in half. I used scissors to poke a hole in the back then cut around the seam. Place the eye on the front cover with white glue. Tear strips of paper towels and glue around the eye. Let dry for a few hours.

Step 3: Use glue gun to create stitching on the front cover. You can do step 3 before step 2 is dry!

Step 4: Paint! Start with a medium brown and cover with one coat on the front, back and binding.

Step 5: Add some shading with light and dark browns. I also used some black and wiped it away to create an aged look.

Step 6: Cut a strip of cardboard for the underneath the snake at the binding. Glue it down.

Step 7: I used Play Doh for the snake accents. Paint applied over it with no problems. Roll the Play Doh and form into snakes and ring around the eye.

Step 8: Paint the Play Doh. A few layers will be needed. Let dry between coats.

Step 9: Go over the snake Play Doh accents with a mettalic paint. You can use a paint pen or acrylic paint. I used spray paint becuase it’s all I could find. I sprayed it (outside) in the bottom of a disposable bowl and applied it with a small brush.

That’s it! Leave a comment if you re-create this!
